OPTOSCANA Innovation Pole of Tuscany on Photonics for Industrial, Biomedical and Space Applications.
In April 2011 the Regione Toscana (Government of Tuscany) launched a call for 12 Poles of Innovation as regional organizations aimed at the technological transfer from research centers to SMEs. In July 2011, the Regione Toscana established the Innovation Pole OPTOSCANA.
OPTOSCANA has as Managing Body composed by the National Research Council – Institute of Applied Physics (CNR IFAC), along with two R&D agencies, Consorzio Pisa Ricerche and i2t3 – Industrial Innovation Through Technology Transfer non-profit organization, of Florence.
OPTOSCANA currently has about 70 member companies, with combined sales of more than 1 billion euros, a number of about 4000 employees and a portfolio of 248 patents. Added to tThese are also the 5 Tuscan UniversityUniversities, 4 Institutes of the CNR, as well as research organizations such as LENS and the CNIT, and agencies of R & D as ASEV and NEXT.
OPTOSCANA, through research organizations and related corporations related, provides a network of 50 laboratories for technology transfer, such as, technical and scientific consistency of notable and well-distributed on the local regional laboratories joint3 joint University-Enterprise labs, 3, 20 at the CNR, 14 of UNIFI, a plane and UnisUNIPI and UNISI, 2 of CPR, they are added toas well as private laboratories: at the Group 6 EL.EN. and 5 at Selex Galileo.
